May 15, 2025
Kenneth Ulin, age 75, of Arlington, MA, died May 15, 2025, from heart disease. Unassuming and kind, he was happiest helping others in his work as a Medical Physicist and at home as a good neighbor and friend. Giving back was important to Ken.
From the Imaging and Radiation Oncology Core Group Rhode Island:
With sadness, the staff at QARC / IROC Rhode Island and the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School share that Kenneth Ulin died on Thursday, May 15. Ken spent his life helping others. After receiving his AB in Physics from Harvard he began teaching high school math, physics, and computer programming in Massachusetts and in Puerto Rico. Once returning to Massachusetts, he received his MS and PhD in Physics from Tufts University. He worked in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the New England Medical Center for 16 years and in 2001 joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and QARC [Quality Assurance Review Center] until his retirement in 2023. As Senior Physicist, and member of the AAPM and ASTRO, Ken was in the forefront of improving clinical trials and radiation oncology. He was also a skilled silversmith. His contributions will be remembered, and he will be missed.
